The Impossible Project

The New York Times today is reporting that the Impossible Project has leased Polaroid's factory in the Netherlands and plans to begin making a new instant film cartridge which will be compatible with Polaroid cameras.

According to the Times, the project is being led by Andre Bosman, a former Polaroid employee, and Florian Kaps, a former manager of the Lomographic Society

Bosman and Kaps have recruited film technicians, chemists and engineers, most of whom are former Polaroid employees. Apparently, many of the materials and chemicals used in making the old Polaroid packs are no longer available, so the team will be creating a new product which works with the older cameras, rather than just continuing to manufacture the original Polaroid product.
